FAQ

Questions before you track.

Quick answers on OBD, fleets, coverage and payments in Tanzania.

How does car tracking work with Maisha Track?

Plug the OBD car tracker into your car's OBD-II port, sign in to the Maisha Track app and see live location, trip history and alerts. Car tracking runs on the included SIM and mobile data across Tanzania.

Is Maisha Track for family cars or fleets?

Both, and bikes. Use the OBD tracker for family cars and small businesses, a compact tracker for Bajaj and boda boda, or fleet management with hardwired trackers for delivery, field teams and company vehicles.

Does it work in Dar es Salaam and across Tanzania?

Yes. GPS vehicle tracking and fleet management work in Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mwanza, Dodoma and other areas across Tanzania where mobile data coverage is available.

Will the OBD tracker work in my vehicle?

Most cars from around 2005 onward have an OBD-II port under the dashboard. We can confirm compatibility before you order.

Do I need a mechanic to install?

OBD trackers plug into the OBD-II port with no wiring. Fleet trackers are hardwired; installation can be arranged in Dar es Salaam and other major towns.

How much is Maisha Track in Tanzania?

OBD for home and SMB, and the Bajaj and boda tracker, are TSh 168,000 per vehicle for the first year (tracker, SIM and data). Renewal from TSh 120,000 per year. Fleet packages are quoted per setup.

Can I pay locally in Tanzania?

Yes. Pay in TZS with Mixx by Yas, Airtel Money, Visa or Mastercard.

Is fuel tracking automatic?

For OBD trackers, fuel tracking is managed by adding fill-up records such as litres, cost and odometer readings. For the fleet fuel monitoring solution, fuel levels are recorded automatically from the vehicle fuel tank.

Can I move my existing GPS trackers to Maisha Track?

Yes. Most brands work, including Teltonika, SinoTrack, Tracksolid Pro and JT808/GT06 devices. In many cases we only replace the SIM card and activate service in about five minutes.
